Mahendragarh: Following the suspension of Bhungarka village sarpanch Rajendra Prasad, the deputy commissioner has directed to hand over the charge to the majority party panch. For this purpose, after announcing the agenda, the panchayat secretary has already called four meetings of the panchas at which the panchas did not register their presence. The fifth meeting was called on Friday but this time the united panchs boycotted the meeting. During this time, the villagers accused the sarpanch of conspiring under political pressure and implicating him in a serious crime.

The villagers said that Rajendra Prasad had given a proposal to the administration to free the panchayat land from encroachments. Only after various processes were completed, the concrete structure constructed on 70 feet of the panchayati area was demolished. The panchayat has decided to construct a community building on the vacant land. The sarpanch had floated a tender for construction of the boundary wall of the building as per the rules, but the residents did not allow the contractor to dig the foundation. When Sarpanch received the complaint, he himself reached the spot and started recording video clips of the accused recording the entire incident including the ill-treatment.

Fearing to tighten the crackdown, the accused surrounded the sarpanch, threw him on the ground and attacked him with sticks. Eight to ten people together grabbed the sarpanch’s revolver, following which two shots were fired. However, it is not clear from whose hand the shots were fired. Additionally, a revolver was also recovered from an accused who was an illegal resident. Despite this, the sarpanch was accused of dismissal and arrested under the 307 Act. After the arrest, the deputy commissioner was directed to suspend the sarpanch and hand over the charge of the sarpanch to the majority panch, but all panchayat panchayats collectively boycotted the fifth meeting of the department.

The majority party’s arbitrator was required to pay the fee, but the arbitrator did not appear.

Panchayat secretary Suresh Kumar said that Bhungarka Sarpanch Rajendra Prasad has been suspended by the deputy commissioner. On the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, a meeting was to be called and the charge was to be handed over to the arbitrator of the majority party, but even at the fifth meeting the arbitrator was not present. Further decisions are made on the instructions of higher officials.
