News2News.in News.Karnal. An Army soldier died after his car collided with a bus on the National Highway flyover near Namaste Chowk. Young Gaurav was on leave to appear for the exam. On Sunday, an autopsy of the soldier’s body was carried out in his home village of Mund and the last rites were performed with state honors.
According to the information, the soldier’s father Balwan, a resident of Mund village, said that his son Gaurav (25) had been working in the army for the last six years. He was deployed in Lehaldakh just three months ago. Gaurav was the only brother of two sisters. On December 4 itself, he had come to Karnal to appear for his BA exam. Gaurav had appeared for the exam with his maternal uncle’s son Himanshu. After the exam, he went to his maternal uncle’s house with Himanshu in a Kutel car. Himanshu was driving the car and Gaurav was sitting on the side. During this time, when he reached Namaste Chowk on the flyover, his car was hit by a Punjab Roadways bus. Gaurav was seriously injured in this accident and Himansh was also injured. After the accident, the bus driver fled and abandoned the bus on the spot. Gaurav and Himanshu were taken to the hospital for treatment where doctors saw Gaurav’s condition and referred him to Chandigarh. Gaurav died during treatment.
Gaurav was the only brother of two sisters
Soldier’s father Balwan said that Gaurav got married only nine months ago, in February. Gaurav was the only son of the family. Seeing the circumstances at home, Gaurav joined the army in 2017. So that he can also marry his sisters. Gaurav has only two sisters. He had no other younger brother. After Gaurav’s death, a mountain of grief fell on the family.
Soldier father Balwan says that Gaurav joined the army only after class 12th. Now he had to be promoted to the army. That’s why he only came home last Monday with a month’s vacation. His BA exam was on Friday, but in that accident his only lamp was taken away. Gaurav doesn’t even have children. After his son’s death, his world was destroyed.
Was drafted into the army in January 2017
Gaurav had joined the army in January 2017. He then completed a three-year training course in Secunderabad. Gaurav’s first posting was in Jhansi and just three months ago he was posted in Leh, Ladakh.
City police superintendent Jaswinder Tuli said that the post-mortem of Gaurav’s body was conducted today in the presence of army officers. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the family members. The police have started searching for the accused bus driver. The bus was confiscated by the police. The police are investigating the matter
