Jind: The period for construction of the proposed hydrogen gas plant near Jind railway junction has been extended till March. Construction was originally scheduled to be completed by December. Currently, Railways has handed over the work of constructing a hydrogen gas plant to Medha Company. Previously it was owned by the Green Company, which expressed its inability to build the facility to the given conditions.

A hydrogen gas plant will be built at the railway junction at a cost of around Rs 118 billion. This gas plant will be built on an area of two thousand meters. The railway had claimed that the facility would be ready in early 2024, but construction would take several more months. Once built, the trains will run on hydrogen gas (fuel). The trains will travel at speeds of up to 140 kilometers. Traveling on these trains will be environmentally friendly. Engines that run on hydrogen gas emit steam and water instead of smoke, so there is no smoke.

So far, the construction work for the facility has been distributed among three companies.

So far, the construction work for the facility has been distributed among three companies. What is special, however, is that even after ten months of construction, no final draft drawing for the system has been created. That’s why construction work on the hydrogen plant is progressing slowly. However, spaces have so far been prepared for storage of storage tanks, electrical rooms, operation theaters and machinery and the state government has given approval for taking over 11,000 voltage connections for a 200 kW load. General Manager Shobhan Chaudhary and ADRM Rajesh Kumar inspected the hydrogen plant on different days. ADRM Rajesh Kumar had reprimanded the railway officials for not preparing the final drawing of the power plant but still the final drawing was not prepared.

The road needs to be widened to accommodate machinery transport

The width of the road that passes through the place where the hydrogen gas plant is being built is very small, while the machines installed in the hydrogen plant are very large, so the road needs to be widened to take them to the plant. Along with the construction of the hydrogen gas plant, work is now underway to widen the road. Currently, barriers have been erected on both sides of the road and tar will be laid on the road in the coming days. Jaiprakash, head of Jind railway station, said that the officials of the company building the hydrogen plant are based in New Delhi. Only from them can correct information be obtained.
