The Haryana Police will now take a transformative initiative in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to improve road safety. A meeting with senior officials was held at Dial 112 office under the chairmanship of DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor.
At the meeting, Kapoor said that the places where road accidents occur more often, called ‘black spots’, will find out the causes, establish coordination with the concerned departments and take necessary steps for improvement. After a traffic accident, it is most important that the injured person is taken to the hospital during the “golden hour,” the time when treatment is necessary. In addition, hospitals are also rated based on their performance. The higher the survival rate of the injured person, the better the hospital is rated, and the higher the injured person’s death toll, the lower the rating. This entire process is connected to the mobile app “Sanjaya”. Maps of district main roads, federal roads, state roads and other district roads are added in this mobile app. Additionally, hospital and ambulance data across the state will also be available on this mobile app.
The reasons for the traffic accidents that occurred in September were also discussed in detail at the meeting. The Director General asked IG Traffic Hardeep Doon to take necessary steps to fix speed limits at various places on the roads across the state as per the requirements. It was also said at the meeting that the number of vehicles has increased significantly in recent years, but the number of road accidents is lower than last year. Compared to last year, traffic accidents have decreased this year and fewer people have been injured. At the meeting, the causes of the traffic accident and the process from transporting the injured person to the hospital to treatment were examined in detail. He said that most people die in road accidents due to head injuries. It is therefore important to list and coordinate trauma centers in the area.
The DGP said that the responsibility of all persons associated with this system will be fixed in relation to road accidents. Clarity emerges about who has to work how and what work has to be done. In addition, hospitals, ambulances and their drivers, and blood banks across the state will also be connected. He said that after receiving information about the injured person, the entire process will be monitored until he is taken to the hospital and treatment is started. In the meeting, Additional Director General of Police Cyber OP Singh, Additional Director General of Police Election 112 and IT Arshindar Chawla, ADGP Law and Order Mamta Singh, IG Modernization Amitabh Dhillon, IG Admin Sanjay Kumar, IG Ambala and Police Commissioner Sibas Kaviraj said and many other officials were present.
