Haryana government will start social audit of 10 service systems

Haryana government will begin social audit of 10 utilities for social justice, empowerment, planned caste and backward class welfare and antyodaya (services) to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of systems and programs. Other programs such as the National Social Assistance Program, the 15th Finance Commission grant and the Swachh Bharat Mission are also being implemented in the current fiscal year 2023-24.

Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal shared this information after chairing the second meeting of the Haryana Society for Social Audit of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) Board of Directors. He said that the Director of Social Audit Unit PMAY-G, 15th FCGS, SBM, NSAP, Rurban Mission, Retirement Homes, De Addiction Centers, Pre and Post Matric Scholarship, PM-Ajay, Babu Jagjivan Ram Chhatrawas, Residential Schools , planned Will create an annual calendar for conducting social audits of various development programs such as caste, tribal loan program and cases related to atrocities.

At the meeting, it was decided to establish a three-person committee chaired by the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) at the district level to strengthen the Social Audit Unit. The Block Development and Panchayat Officer and SDO Panchayati Raj will also be members. The committee will designate the Village Resource Person to conduct the social audit. The Governing Body approved the proposal to increase the Village Resource Person’s fee from Rs.500 to Rs.650 including TA/DA per day worked.

Additional Chief Secretary for Rural Development Anil Malik said the social audit of the MGNREGA program will be carried out in collaboration with community-based organizations and other local NGOs to ensure social accountability and transparency. The Social Audit Unit has identified and trained 824 village workers from all 22 districts of Haryana. This includes members of self-help groups, social organizations and village groups.
