After the video went viral, Karnail Singh, representative of Municipal Council No. 7, got the damaged street lights repaired, but after the video of the damaged lights went viral on social media, people also expressed concern over the functioning of the contractor.

According to the information received, Ratia Municipality had got the city’s street lights repaired through a contractor and installed new street lights at some places for the Diwali festival a few days ago. Late in the evening, a video went viral on social media claiming that the Ratia municipality had installed substandard street lights two days ago, which were damaged within two days. People commented on this on social media and also raised suspicions about the contractor’s work system. After the video went viral, Karnail Singh, representative of Municipal Council No. 7, took action and informed the municipal authorities. The city administration then had the damaged street lamp repaired. It is said that the contractor installed poor quality street lights which were damaged within days despite their quality being at least three years old. Municipal secretary Pankaj June said an investigation would be launched into how the street lights were damaged so quickly.
