Fatehabad: After the video of rice-laden vehicles from the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar went viral on social media, SDM Jagdish Chandra started taking strict action. SDM Jagdish Chandra along with the market committee team inspected Fatehabad Road in Ratia on Thursday. During this time, two carts from Uttar Pradesh loaded with rice were caught on Fatehabad Road and fined thousands of rupees including HRDF charges. SDM said that cultivation of paddy from other states would be prohibited in Ratia area at any cost.

According to information received, in the last few days, SDM Jagdish Chandra has been receiving complaints on social media that bags of rice from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are being illegally loaded into trucks and transported by tractor-trolleys in Ratia region. From here the grains are sent to the market and the rice mill. On Thursday, SDM Jagdish Chandra, market committee secretary Yashpal Mehta and deputy secretary Nishant Kumar inspected Fatehabad Road. He saw two trucks full of rice bags that had come from Uttar Pradesh in the name of a company. When the team reviewed the documents, they found that market fees and HRDF fees were not filled in.

For this, the team paid a fee of Rs 60,360, including the HRDF market fee and a fine for both trucks. SDM Jagdish Chandra said that he constantly receives complaints that large quantities of rice from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are brought to Ratia by trucks and sent to Ratia grain market and rice mill by tractor trolleys available at any price. But this will not be tolerated. Three teams have also been formed to investigate this. Market Committee Secretary Yashpal Mehta said the team recovered Rs 60,360, including HRDF and other fines on paddy transporters from other states.
