Fatehabad: A terrible situation has arisen in the district due to pollution caused by burning of paddy straw by farmers. The air quality index of Fatehabad exceeded 328 on Friday morning. Environmentalists and representatives of social and religious organizations are surprised at such a high level of environmental pollution that so far this year only around 500 cases of arson have been detected, last year there were around 700. What is special is that 118 reports about Harsec have been proven false. The Agriculture Ministry teams did not detect any arson here.

On Friday, Harsek sent 15 new stubble burning sites to the Ministry of Agriculture. With this, the total number of stubble burning cases in the district has risen to 476. In addition, the department received 36 arson reports from other sources. Of this, the department has recovered an amount of Rs 6 lakh 35,000 as environmental compensation from 250 farmers. According to the Agriculture Ministry, the Harsec report said there were 118 such places where no fire was found during the survey, while in some places garbage was set on fire instead of stubble. It has been learned that farmers are burning heavy stubble in the fields bordering the border state of Punjab in the district. All the smoke goes towards Fatehabad. According to farmers, rice has not yet been harvested in the Sautrawala area, the paddy field adjacent to the city.

The reason for this was the delayed sowing due to floods. In such a situation, rice harvesting is yet to begin here. Farmers also believe that the frequency of arson is significantly lower than last year. On the administrative side, those responsible sit silently in their offices and watch what is happening. There are no guidelines, water sprinkling, mask requirements or safety measures in place. This time, the health department also remained confined to the hospital. Respiratory patients, lung patients and diabetes patients were left to their fate. According to Ajay Jindal, a social worker here, people who fell victim to Corona are now facing difficulty in breathing. No guidelines have been issued for them by the administration.
