Fatehabad: The body of a youth who drowned in Bhakra canal in Samana region of Punjab a few days ago was recovered from the canal near Saniana village in Fatehabad. After receiving information about the discovery of the body in the canal, the police team reached the spot, retrieved the body from the canal and sent it to the government hospital for post-mortem. As soon as information about this came, the family members of the deceased youth also reached Fatehabad. The police are investigating the matter.

Relatives of the deceased present at the hospital said that 21-year-old Ramandeep, a resident of Kamalpur village in Sangrur district of Punjab, used to work in a factory near Samana. The Bhakra Canal runs near the factory and there are many soup and fast food vendors located along the canal tracks. He said that two to three days ago, Ramandeep was sitting on the canal track eating and drinking as usual when he suddenly fell into the canal. They have been searching for him in the canal ever since. Today, the youth’s body was recovered near Saniyana village. The police are investigating the matter.
