government of HaryanaJal Jeevan Mission Although the state, as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission, claims to provide 29 lakh households with drinking water through taps, this water supply affects the health of the common man. Dirty and polluted water is supplied not only in villages but also in cities. The public keeps complaining to the officials, but instead of finding a solution, the situation worsens.

The Jal Jeevan Mission’s report also said that about 66 percent of the drinking water samples sent to the state for testing failed, showing that the Jhajjar district’s water is the most toxic. For example, a mixture of toxic elements that promote disease was found in the water. Many toxic elements such as fluoride are dissolved in this water and can lead to water cancer and kidney disease. Means people are forced to drink poison in the name of water. The state government spends millions of rupees to provide water to every home and purify the contaminated water. Even so, almost every county in the state has a mix of dangerous toxins like fluoride, while 16 counties have disease-spreading water containing elements like arsenic. If we look at the contaminated water report, then in most districts people are forced to use toxic water such as arsenic, uranium, cadmium, chromium and bacterial contamination.

Sources of drinking water in Haryana include hand pumps and tube wells in addition to the state water supply, but most tap water is canal water. The Jal Jeevan Mission has spent millions on laying new pipelines, including in rural areas, to improve the supply of clean and pure drinking water to the state’s population. Facilities for testing and cleaning contaminated water will also be built as part of the mission.

For the current year, the state government has allocated a budget of 5,017 crores to the state’s Public Health Engineering Department to increase the supply of clean drinking water, of which 200 crores is earmarked for establishing urban-style sewage systems in rural areas. As for the polluted water supply, the issue was raised in the Vidhansabha, for which the government set up a committee. The state also has a system for examining water samples based on public complaints. Most of the test results from water test samples are also surprising. According to the latest report from Jal Jeevan Mission, 24,712 water samples from different areas of all districts of the state were tested, and 16,218 samples found dangerous substances, that is, 65.64 percent of the water samples were such that they are not suitable for drinking and cause diseases.
