Chandigarh: Haryana’s Minister for Women and Child Development, Kamlesh Dhanda, granted six inmates permission to stay at Rohtak Mahila Ashram after more than 13 years of serious debate over the inmates’ future. After checking the remaining six inmates through the Deputy Commissioner, he directed to make the next decision. On Wednesday Minister for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda chaired a meeting related to the Women’s Ashram Rohtak at the office of the Haryana Secretariat.

Monika Malik, Director of the Department of Women and Child Development, and representatives from the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Health attended the meeting. The Minister of State approved permission to stay in the women’s ashram for single inmates and inmates who only have daughters. He instructed that a detailed report and information on the sources of income of the six inmates be obtained, after verification by the responsible Deputy Commissioner, so that a decision could be made on the stay of these inmates at Mahila Ashram. He also inquired of the officials about the facilities provided to the inmates of Rohtak and Karnal Women’s Ashram and instructed that the basic facilities of the inmates should be provided according to the norms.
