Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapoor told a meeting of senior officials that it was important to resolve people’s grievances quickly, but at the same time it was more important to investigate the matter impartially. As far as dealing with complaints received at police stations is concerned, officers should randomly call complainants and ask them the reasons for their dissatisfaction. On this basis, assessments of police stations and officers are made.

The meeting was held at Moginand Police Grounds where safety of women and children and many other important issues were discussed. This meeting was attended by senior police department officials. At the meeting, Kapoor said senior officers need to review the calls made through the feedback cell at their level and particularly focus on those who are dissatisfied with the police action and ask them the reason for their dissatisfaction. He urged senior officials to continue to take note of the feedback cell’s complaints. He said that they should ensure call recording to ensure transparency of work.

Campaign against abusers and women’s safety

The meeting said that special attention will be given to areas where assault or harassment of women is comparatively more common. Police units were deployed to locations where women were abused. Kapoor said that while the police officers are waging a campaign against the miscreants who harass women outside the colleges and universities, they should deploy women police officers who should keep in touch with the girl students studying here so that the women can also easily tell them about it. The meeting was informed that a list of drug sellers and buyers is being drawn up and is expected to be ready by November 30. The DGP said strict action should be taken against those involved in drug smuggling.

Improving police stations for women

Kapoor said officers posted there should listen carefully to the complaints received at women police stations and speak to them politely. He said the purpose of setting up Mahila police station was to provide legal facilities to women at one place so that they do not have to wander here and there. It is therefore important that the police officers deployed there work accordingly. It was informed in the meeting that 53 SWAT teams will be deployed in different districts of the state.
