The Director General of Police said that in order to stop cyber crime, it is necessary to take immediate action when the complaint received on the helpline number is forwarded to the nodal officers of the bank and the officials of the concerned bank also take immediate action and remittance it to the bank. Freeze the money. The sooner this process is completed, the sooner the fraudulent amount can be withheld.

Giving information on this, the government spokesperson said that to deal with complaints related to cyber fraud, the manpower of the helpline run by the Union Home Ministry has been increased in 1930 so that the ‘golden hour’ i.e. the period when the rupee catches the opportunities to become are high. By taking appropriate measures, people’s deposited capital can be protected from cyber fraud. Furthermore, an action plan was prepared in a meeting with representatives of private banks chaired by the Director General of Police so that the bank officials and the cyber helpline team could make joint efforts and take immediate action. He informed that 6064 complaints were received through the cyber helpline in early August and through this, the team saved the fraud to the tune of 3 Crore 78 Lakh 98 Thousand 420. Similarly, an additional amount of Rs 35 lakh was held in September as compared to the month of August.

It is noteworthy that the Director General of Police visited the cyber helpline office immediately after assuming office. The challenges faced in resolving complaints received through the cyber helpline number were examined in detail. To address these challenges, an effective action plan was drawn up in a meeting with the bank officials. However, it was more difficult to resolve the complaints received late at night and on public holidays. To resolve this issue, the bank officials have been asked to appoint their nodal officers even on public holidays. This helped save more than Rs 35 lakh from cyber fraud in September compared to the previous month.

To make this helpline more effective, as per the directions of the Director General of Police, a team of HDFC Bank employees visited the cyber helpline office in the first week of October. He understood the working system of the cyber helpline in detail.
