Haryana: Former chief minister and opposition leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda blamed the BJP-JJP for the plight of paddy and millet farmers. He said depriving farmers of compensation and MSP was the secret policy of the coalition government. Therefore, government procurement was deliberately delayed so that farmers could not get MSP. Additionally, the government portal and systems were immediately exposed at the start of procurement. As usual, the portal stopped working. It became difficult for farmers to get their gate pass, J form and E form.

He said that the government has not made any agreement to increase the purchased crop. The markets are filled with rice and millet; many hundredweights of the harvest have yet to arrive. But from now on entry is prohibited. Farmers have to wait for hours and days. He said the Congress has repeatedly urged the government to start procurement soon, improve arrangements in the mandis and ensure speedy procurement and payment. But the government continued to sleep and handed over the farmers to private agencies. Reiterating his demand, he said that MSP is the right of the farmer and every farmer’s crop should be sold at MSP. The government should pay the loss caused to farmers by not receiving the full tax rate so far.

Raising the issue of forgery of family ID along with purchase of grains, he said it is an ongoing problem whose forgery shows no signs of ending. From August 2020 to August 2023, around 70 lakh family ID cards were produced in the state. Errors were found in more than 90 percent of them. In some cases, date of birth, name, marital status, qualifications, disability status and some income were incorrectly reported. Even a living person turned out to be dead, and a dead person turned out to be alive. So many mistakes can only be made intentionally and not unknowingly. People have to suffer the consequences of the government’s mistakes. People tour mini-secretariats to have errors in their family ID corrected. They have to stand in long lines for hours over many days. Nevertheless, no solution is found. The Congress has announced that the family ID card, which was deliberately created to harass the public, will be abolished once the party comes into government.
