Villagers on Saturday attacked a team of electricity workers who caught the electricity theft in Hamzapur village, Ratia area in ’s Fatehabad district, and smashed the glasses of a government vehicle. At the same time, the electricity workers were beaten with sticks. The villagers also broke the phone that the employees used to make the video of the electricity theft. Later, the energy workers saved her life by running away. Two employees, including the company’s junior engineer, were injured in the incident and taken to the civilian hospital. The information about the whole affair was given to the police by the Electricity Corporation.

According to the information, Electricity Corporation had received a secret information that some people in Bhatta Dhani in Hamjapur village stole electricity by putting straight latch. Electricity Corporation officials then formed a team and sent it to the village to investigate. The team consisted of Junior Engineer Rajesh Kumar, Junior Engineer Subhash Chandra, ALM Balraj, Rajpal and Sunil Kumar. All the said electricity workers reached Alsubah Dhani in a government vehicle on Saturday and took a video of the villagers stealing electricity in their mobile phones. When the villagers found out about the Electricity Corporation raid, they attacked Electricity Corporation employees and smashed the windows of the Electricity Corporation official vehicle with bricks and stones.

Villagers also attacked and injured Electricity Corporation employees with sticks. The electricians saved their lives by running away with great difficulty. The villagers also broke the Electricity Corporation team’s cell phone. Junior Engineers Rajesh Kumar and Sunil Kumar were injured in the attack and were admitted to Ratia’s citizens’ strike. Injured employee Rajesh Kumar said he went to the village on Saturday to catch an electricity theft based on secret information. As soon as he videotaped the electricity theft, Jagbir Singh and other villagers attacked him with bricks and sticks, injuring him. Upper authorities have been informed of this. In this regard, Electricity Corporation’s sub-department head, Amit Kumar, says that today the villagers attacked Electricity Corporation’s employees, about which a written complaint was lodged with the police. The matter is being investigated by the police.
