Haryana: INLD National Principal General Secretary and Ellenabad MLA Abhay Chautala termed Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s decision to increase sugarcane crop by just Rs 14 per quintal to Rs 386 per quintal as inadequate and said that the BJP government I cheated again on The Farmers. Inflation has risen sharply in recent years. It is against this background that a decision should be made about the sugarcane harvest.
He said that the BJP coalition government was working to weaken the farmers and was working to help the sugar mill owners. The sugar industry is an energy-based industry in which sugarcane is used as a raw material and the crushing of sugarcane releases four other by-products in addition to sugar. First, bagasse (bagasse) is produced, which will be used as fuel for sugar production next year. Secondly, press mud with a high sulfur content is created, which is used as sulfur fertilizer. Thirdly, molasses (sera) is produced, which is used in the production of ethanol and spirits as well as in other industries, and fourthly, the electricity generated by the turbine that runs in sugar production is more than needed and can also be sold. Sugar mill owners make huge profits.
He said that on the other hand, the expenditure of sugarcane producing farmers on production of fertilizers, seeds, medicines, diesel and other things has increased sharply. Even the common consumer receives expensive sugar, thereby plundering both farmers and the general public. This year, government employees have been given an 8 percent subsidy, while the 3.76 percent hike in sugarcane taxes for farmers is like a drop in a camel’s mouth. He demanded that if the cost of sugarcane production has increased, the quantity of sugarcane should also increase in the same proportion and the quantity of sugarcane should be given to farmers at the rate of Rs 450 per quintal.
