In the last 24 hours, at least 34 people have died due to rain in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. Like the rest of the states in northern India, UP is also receiving heavy rains, which has increased the water level of the river. The problem of traffic has also remained in the cities and there has been waterlogging in the fields in the rural areas. Of the 34 people, 17 died due to lightning and 12 due to drowning, while five died due to excess rain.

Five people died due to drowning in Rae Bareli, while 4 people died in Bareilly. After this, two people each died in Santakbirnagar and Badaun. Four people died due to lightning in Mainpuri, followed by 2 in Ghazipur, 2 in Jalaun, 2 in Kanpur Dehat, 2 in Kannauj, one in Ballia, 1 in Baghpat, Etawah 1, Unnao 1. And in Agra also 1 person has died.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a relief amount of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the deceased and assured proper treatment to those injured in various natural calamities. According to the Meteorological Department, about 68 out of 75 districts of the state have received rain. The average rainfall recorded in Uttar Pradesh during the last 24 hours is 1.3 cm. This is 56 percent more than normal.

Districts adjoining western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Uttarakhand, especially the Meerut region, have received more rainfall than the central and eastern parts of the state. It has been told by IMD that due to heavy rains in the state, the water level of Ganga, Ramganga, Yamuna and Rapti rivers has increased. Heavy rains during the afternoon led to water-logging in several parts of capital Lucknow, causing traffic snarls for commuters.

Also, a laborer died after a balcony of a house fell on him in Mukundpur.
