Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Ramveer Singh Bidhuri said on Sunday that the Kejriwal government kept claiming to make the roads of Delhi like London and Paris but it took almost 9 years to repair the roads. I couldn’t even make a plan. The government is making plans on paper but has completely failed to implement them on the ground. Bidhuri said that about 1400 km of Delhi is wider than 60 meters. The work of redevelopment and repair of roads is the responsibility of PWD but these roads have not been taken care of for years.
Delhi government is not able to repair the roads
During G-20, the Central Government rejuvenated the major roads but the Delhi Government could not get the remaining roads repaired. This is the reason that even the Supreme Court had to say that due to the rising dust of Delhi’s roads, pollution in the capital has reached life-threatening levels. Broken roads not only create traffic jams but also cause huge damage to vehicles. Apart from this, there is always a risk of accidents. Bidhuri said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced a big scheme of his government with great enthusiasm. It was said that now a single agency will do the work of roads as well as footpaths, greenery, potholes and their redevelopment.

It was also said that this agency would be given the responsibility of a road for 10 years. It was told that Rs 12 thousand crores would be spent on this scheme, but this scheme has fallen apart because no agency is ready to do this work. After this, the government made another plan for private companies to participate in this work but that too could not take off. Bidhuri said that on one hand Delhi’s new PWD Minister Atishi is announcing that all the roads of Delhi will be rejuvenated on the lines of G-20 and on the other hand she does not have any plan yet. Now again it is being said that all the work will be done by different agencies whereas earlier too the work was being done in the same manner. All this is happening only on paper.
