Aam Aadmi Party MLAs Saurabh Bhardwaj and Atishi were inducted into the Delhi cabinet today. Both the MLAs have taken the oath of office today. After the resignation of former deputy CMs Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal has given a big responsibility to these two MLAs.

Manish Sisodia has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the 2021-22 Excise Policy, while Jain has been in jail for nine months in an alleged money laundering case. The President had on Tuesday approved the induction of Bhardwaj and Atishi in the Arvind Kejriwal cabinet. With this, the President has accepted the resignations of both the ministers. According to media reports, CM Arvind Kejriwal and all other ministers attended the swearing-in ceremony at Raj Niwas.

Who is Saurabh Bhardwaj

Saurabh Bhardwaj is the vice-chairman of the Delhi Jal Board. He has been elected three times MLA from Greater Kailash Vidhansabha. Bhardwaj served as a minister during a short stint in the Aam Aadmi Party government in 2013. Saurabh Bhardwaj is also the chief spokesperson of AAP.

Who is Atishi Marlena

Atishi represents the Kalkaji constituency and is a first time MLA from Kalkaji. Along with this, Atishi Marlena has played an important role in the education reforms of the AAP government and has worked closely with Sisodia in the field of education. She also contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, but she lost to Gautam Gambhir.

Cabinet reshuffle for the second time after 2020

This will be the second reshuffle of the Council of Ministers for Atishi and Bhardwaj after the AAP government returned to power in 2020. Kailash Gehlot now has 14 portfolios. These include Finance, Law, Transport, Administrative Reforms, Information and Technology, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Planning, Public Works Department, Electricity, Home, and other departments.

Raj Kumar Anand is handling 14 portfolios which include Education, Health, Industries, Employment, Labour, Art and Culture, Tourism, Services, Vigilance, Land and Building, Cooperation, Social Welfare, SC and ST, Gurdwara Elections.
