New Delhi: Cabinet Minister Atishi Marlena wrote a letter to Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar regarding the WCD department officer accused of raping and impregnating a minor in Delhi. He wrote a letter asking how the accused officer was allowed to work in the WCD department despite previous complaints of sexual harassment against him.

In this matter, Atishi sought a detailed report by 5 pm on August 28, including the time of receipt of complaints of harassment by the officer and the details of the person handling those complaints. According to the Delhi Police, Premoday Khakha, deputy director in the Women and Child Development (WCD) department of the Delhi government, allegedly raped the girl multiple times between November 2020 and January 2021. His wife Seema Rani allegedly gave the girl medicine to terminate her pregnancy.

After the matter came to the fore, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered immediate suspension of the officer. In her letter, Atishi asked whether the complaints against the accused, who held the charge of the Delhi WCD department, had been investigated and who was the most senior officer to know about it.

He wrote in his letter that how can senior officers turn a blind eye to such complaints. How can a person accused of sexual harassment of women be allowed to work in any department. Atishi said that criminals start to feel that their behavior will have no effect and they become bold. This is a very serious issue. Action is not being taken in this. Time encourages wrongdoers.

According to media reports, Premoday Khakha, a former officer of the WCD department, has been arrested for repeatedly raping a minor, against whom there were several complaints regarding sexual harassment of women.
