Demand for bail on the basis of wife’s illness

Manish Sisodia had sought bail on the grounds of his wife’s illness. The Supreme Court said that it would consider granting interim relief to the Aam Aadmi Party leader on these grounds. The Delhi High Court had denied him bail in the CBI case saying he was a high-profile person with the ability to influence witnesses. On 3 July, the Delhi High Court refused him bail in a money laundering case related to the liquor policy scam, observing that the allegations against him were of a very serious nature.

The High Court had said that his party is still in power in the national capital Delhi. The influence of Sisodia, who once handled 18 departments, continues. Also, the court said that most of the witnesses in this case are people from civil service. Therefore, the possibility of their influence cannot be ruled out at all.
