Delhi Flood Warning: With the arrival of monsoon in Delhi, the rains have created havoc. Day by day the water level in Yamuna river is increasing. The swollen Yamuna has broken all its records. The water level of Yamuna in Delhi reached 207.55 meters on Wednesday. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called an emergency meeting regarding the rising water level of Yamuna.

According to media reports, CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the Central Water Commission has predicted a water level of 207.72 meters in Yamuna today. This news is not good for Delhi. He said that it has not rained in Delhi for the last two days. But, an abnormally high amount of water has been released by Haryana at Hathinikund Barrage, due to which the water level of Yamuna is rising. He has urged the Center to take such steps so that the water level of Yamuna does not rise further. He told that there was flood in 1978, when the water level was 207.49 meters and even today the water level of Yamuna is 207.55 metres. He has also called an emergency meeting of officials to prevent floods.

Roads and highways submerged

It is being said that the Yamuna river in the national capital Delhi has brought back memories of 45 years ago. Earlier in 1978 such flood had come here. Water has entered many residential areas of the capital. From GT Karnal Road to Ring Road are seen to be submerged. Delhi Police has imposed Section 144 in the affected area to save people from the flood.

Water entered houses in many areas of South Delhi

In Jaitpur area of ​​South Delhi, flood water has reached people’s homes at many places. A Delhi government official said that water has entered inside Khadda Colony and Vishwakarma Colony. Another official said that the flood-affected areas are located inside the embankment. As of now, there is no crack in the embankment.

all gates of okhla barrage opened

Traffic has been stopped on the old railway bridge in view of the rising water level of Yamuna. Department officials said that all the gates of Okhla Barrage have been opened to keep the water level in check for a long time. Apart from this, the people living on the banks of Yamuna have been removed and sent to higher places on Tuesday evening.
