Delhi Assembly Special Session: On the last day of the Delhi Assembly session, members of the ruling party raised questions on the functioning of Delhi Government Principal Secretary Finance Ashish Chandra Verma and demanded to immediately summon him to the House. When the Principal Secretary Finance was not summoned to the House, the Assembly Speaker unanimously referred the matter to the Privileges Committee. Members of the ruling party alleged that due to non-release of funds to the departments by the Principal Secretary of the Finance Department, the work of almost all the departments is lying incomplete.

On this, all the members of the ruling party unanimously demanded to summon the Principal Secretary Finance in the House. The Assembly was then informed that he was on leave. The Finance Secretary was asked to answer on this. Then the leader of the opposition opposed this, after which the members of the ruling party insisted on the Speaker that the Principal Secretary Finance should be called to the House today itself. On this, the Speaker ordered the Principal Secretary Finance to be present in the House by 5 pm, but he did not appear in the House, after which the ruling party members unanimously sent the matter to the Privilege Committee of the Assembly.

As soon as the proceedings of the House began, Speaker Ramniwas Goyal, while referring to the matter of stopping the work related to e-Assembly by the Principal Secretary Finance, said that this is a serious matter. Till now, even after many years, the Assembly has not been able to implement this scheme, because even the consultant has not been appointed for it, whereas Rs 20 crore has been allocated in the budget.

He told that even the payments for the assembly canteen are not being made. He said that due to non-sanction of funds by Finance Department Principal Secretary Ashish Chandra Verma, the annual programs of the Assembly could not be organized on Diwali and Chhath festivals this year. He said that celebrations will also not be organized on Christmas. After the lunch break, the uproar on this matter continued for a long time. In fact, Principal Secretary Finance informed that he is on leave and as soon as Secretary Finance was given permission to speak in the House, Leader of Opposition Ramveer Singh Bidhuri said that when Principal Secretary Finance has been summoned then why the statement of the Secretary?
