Senior journalist and author Arvind Kumar Singh has been awarded for his book ‘Water Transport in India’. He has received this honor from the Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, under the Rajbhasha Shield and Original Book Scheme. For this, a meeting of the Hindi Advisory Committee was organized at Vigyan Bhavan on Saturday. Arvind Kumar Singh was honored in this meeting. Several Members of Parliament, senior officials of the Ministry and key officials of all ports were present at the function.

The book explores the possibilities of the future

The book Water Transport in India by Arvind Kumar explores the glorious past of shipping in India and the future prospects in the present scenario. This book has been published by National Book Trust India. Water transport has been instrumental in our socio-economic development for centuries. Magnificent cities settled on the banks of mighty waterways. The author believes that even today the needs of lakhs of people in many areas of the country are met through water transport. Despite the slow speed, it remains a lifeline for the poor and during disasters even country boats are most useful.

Took higher education from Allahabad University

Arvind Kumar Singh, born on 7 April 1965 in Basti district of Uttar Pradesh, is an eminent Hindi journalist and writer. After completing his higher education from Allahabad University, he has been associated with journalism and writing for the last three and a half decades. Arvind Kumar Singh, who started his career with Jansatta Dainik, served many newspapers including Amar Ujala, Jansatta Express, News2News.in and was also an advisor in the Ministry of Railways for three years. Worked as Parliamentary Affairs Editor in Rajya Sabha TV for a decade. Apart from the Media Advisory Committee of Rajya Sabha, he has also been a member of the Board of Studies of many universities. Mr. Singh has also been a mentor of the PM youth program. More than 600 of his works have been published in various journals.

Arvind Kumar has written many books till now

More than 400 programs have been broadcast on All India Radio and Television channels. Arvind Kumar Singh is a scholar of communication, transport sector and rural society. Arvind Singh is the author of many books. His book Bharatiya Dak, published by the National Book Trust, India, has been published in Hindi, English, Urdu and Assamese languages. Apart from the book Bharat Darshan in Postage Stamps, she has also done Hindi translation of the book Bharatiya Mahila Krishak. His works have been included in the syllabus of NCERT and the syllabus in many states.

Arvind has already received many honors

Government of India Literacy Award to Arvind Kumar, Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Journalism Award, Literary Award (Journalism) by Hindi Academy, Delhi, Chaudhary Charan Singh Agricultural Journalism Award, IFFCO Hindi Sevi Samman, Shiksha Puraskar 2009, Excellence in Rural Journalism of Press Council of India Apart from the award, the Mahesh Srijan Samman has been awarded towards the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.
