Delhi News: Just before the Republic Day, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested two smugglers while seizing a large consignment of illegal weapons. At his instance, 34 pistols and material used in making weapons have also been recovered. The names of the accused are Naved Rana and Salim. After interrogation, the police has also unearthed an arms manufacturing factory in Shamli, UP. This consignment of weapons was to be delivered to the Gogi gang.

According to DCP Point Pratap Singh, on a tip-off on January 13, Naved Rana was apprehended from Delhi Jammu Road, near Singhu Extension Narela. Nine pistols, five pistols and three cartridges were recovered from the 21-year-old accused. After interrogation and further investigation, Salim (39), a resident of Shamli UP, was arrested on January 20. Salim told during interrogation that he does both the work of making and supplying weapons. On its tip, on January 21, a raid was conducted on an illegal arms manufacturing factory in Shamli, from where 24 cartridges, six semi-automatic pistols, an old barrel, six firing pins and other material used in making weapons were seized.

Police said that accused Naved Rana told during interrogation that his brother Asif is a professional criminal, who is currently lodged in Muzaffarnagar jail. He got information about Salim through his brother. Salim supplies arms in many states including NCR. He used to get commission in lieu of delivery of weapons. Salim was involved in this business of illegal arms in the year 2012-13. Police said that in the year 2015, accused Naved Rana was booked for rioting, rape and two other cases.
