Raja Sharma / Dongargarh- The reservoir gate in village Devkatta, Dongargarh, Chhattisgarh is in a damaged condition for many years. Because of which the villagers are facing a lot of trouble. Despite complaining several times to the administration regarding this matter, no solution was found. The heat is continuously increasing in the district, in such a situation there is a water crisis. Enraged by this, a large number of villagers staged a protest at the tehsil office of Dongargarh. Here, under the banner of JCCJ, the third political party from Chhattisgarh, this demonstration was performed under the leadership of State General Secretary Naveen Agarwal. At the same time, a lot of high voltage drama was also seen during the performance.

The responsible officers of the Irrigation Department kept avoiding coming in front of the villagers, that means these officers could not see the pain of the angry villagers. However, the villagers remained adamant about their demands, after which the Irrigation Department’s engineer reached the spot and assured the villagers to fix the dam gate within a week. After that the villagers called off the protest.
If the work is not done this time, then we will boycott the election
Villagers told that, this dam was constructed in 1976, they are facing a lot of problems due to the damaged gate of the dam. The government had given the tender for the construction of the dam four months ago, giving approval of 7 crore 2 lakhs. But the contractor did not start the work. The local vendors were also negligent in this matter. After which the villagers had also complained about the whole matter to the local MLA in the past. But till now no action has been taken in the whole matter. That’s why angry villagers reached Dongargarh Tehsil office today and demonstrated. During the demonstration, the responsible officials of the Irrigation Department have given written assurance to them and said that the construction work of the dam will be started within a week. At the same time, the villagers have also given a warning that if the construction work is not started this time too, they will boycott the upcoming assembly elections and protest violently on the Dongargarh Khairagarh main road.
