A MLA representative and student leaders of Surguja area, who went to drink alcohol at a bar located on VIP Road in Telibandha police station area, created a ruckus at Telibandha police station on Saturday. The uproar continued till three in the morning. The reason for the ruckus is the late night police drinking by the leaders in the bar. Here, the police have denied any dispute in the bar.

According to the information, the MLA representative from Surguja area was drinking late night in a bar located on VIP Road along with local student leaders. Meanwhile, the patrol team of Telibandha police reached to close the bar. The bar manager told the patrolling team that he wanted to close the bar, but some people sitting in the table were drinking, after they left, he would close the bar. During this, an SI involved in the patrolling team asked the MLA’s PA and student leaders to leave. The MLA’s PA got agitated over the matter of leaving the bar and in a drunken state started abusing the SI and also started bullying the officers. Hurt by this behavior of the MLA’s representative, the SI slapped him on the cheek. After this, other policemen present on the spot thrashed the student leaders. After this the ruckus increased.

Two CSPs reached the spot to solve the matter

Hurt by the beating by the policemen in the bar, the student leader called his other colleagues to the police station. After this, the student leaders abused the policemen inside the police station and created ruckus there. At the same time, they sat on a dharna outside the police station, demanding the dismissal of the SI who raised his hand on the MLA’s PA. Apart from Civil Lines CSP Manoj Dhruv, Assembly CSP Udayan Behar had to reach the spot to convince the student leaders.

Police denied that there was a fight in the bar

When Telibandha TI was contacted regarding this whole matter, he denied that he had assaulted or misbehaved with anyone in the bar. TI says that the patrolling party had reached the spot after getting information about the traffic jam due to the gathering of some people late at night on VIP road. When those who blocked the road were called to the police station, they called their friends to the police station. TI also refused to sit on dharna of student leaders outside the police station.
