Prem Somvanshi-Kota. In Kota of Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh, four accused involved in online gambling have been arrested in Mahadev, Anna Reddy. The arrested accused used to open bank accounts of people on the pretext of trading and used that account in their online betting business. Through which they used to transfer the amount to different accounts.
Just a few days back, the Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur Santosh Singh had directed to take action against those who make online gambling betting in the district. Showing readiness, the police arrested Rahul Wadhwani, Parath Sahu, Vasudev Khusro and Suresh Navrang. Under the leadership of Kota police station in-charge TS Navrang, the four accused involved in online gambling were arrested.
Bank accounts were opened by cheating
Applicant Narottam Vishwakarma came to the police station on Wednesday, August 25 and lodged a report that Suresh Navrang of Khairjhiti village came to our village 4-5 months ago and would get ₹ 10,000 for opening an account in HDFC Bank. Since the financial condition of my house was not good, I came under the guise of Suresh Navrang and gave my Aadhaar card, PAN card to open the account. Suresh Navrang and Rahul Wadhwani and their accomplices, by deceiving me and opening an account in my name, are fraudulently using the account for online betting. At first I did not understand, but when I came to know about it, I submitted a written application to Kota police station and lodged a report. After which the police registered the case under section 420,34.
Crores seized
During the investigation of the case, when the suspects were interrogated, they accepted online gambling through the Mahadev-Anna Reddy book. Since the accused had made an online transaction, an amount of Rs 2 crore has been seized in the bank.
Passbook, ATM, laptop and cash recovered
At the same time, the police have also seized 50 bank accounts, 40 ATM cards and 04 mobiles and cash of Rs 25,000 from the arrested accused. The accused, in connivance with the officials and employees of the bank, used to get people to open fake bank accounts on the pretext of trading. Then used these accounts in online betting business. 50 such bank accounts have been identified by the police. To activate UPI in these accounts, they used to link fake SIM accounts with some mobile phone people. Section 7 Gambling Prohibition Act was added during the deliberations in the case. Action has been taken by arresting 04 accused in the case on the basis of evidence. At present, the investigation of the case is going on.
