Injury marks have also been found in many places on the woman’s body. Relatives and villagers said that the woman was gang-raped. Dragging marks and earrings have been found at the scene of the incident.

The case pertains to Haurnar, a dependent village of Kanupara of Gram Panchayat of Dantewada district. This village is attached to Gidam Nagar Panchayat. According to the villagers, at around 6 pm on May 28, a 25-year-old married woman from the area had gone to draw water from the well. The distance of the well from the house is only 500 meters. When she did not return home between 7 to 8 in the evening, the family members went out to find her. Due to the darkness, started searching for him with the light of torch.
The family and the villagers first reached near the well, where her husband’s clothes were found, which she had brought to wash. He did not see the woman there. Then searched around. When he went ahead in search, he found the bucket lying at some distance. Marks of dragging were also found near the opposite side bushes where the bucket was found.
Proceeded to find the villagers on this basis. About 60 meters from the well and about 500 meters away from the house, the dead body of the woman was found under the mahua tree behind the bushes, which was naked. Villagers told that the woman’s throat was wrapped with a cloth. Half of his clothes were lying at some distance from the corpse, completely torn. There were injury marks in many places on the woman’s body.

The villagers immediately took the woman to the hospital at night, where the doctors declared her brought dead. After the incident, there was a lot of resentment among the villagers. The villagers said that, where the daughter-in-law of our village was tortured, there is a daily gathering of gamblers and drug addicts at the same place. Here the addicts from outside come here and camp till about 12 o’clock in the night.
