Raipur. Doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences have so far given new life to ten patients through kidney transplantation. On the other hand, the transplant facility established years ago at DK Hospital has not yet come out of the papers. In AIIMS, a 70 year old father saved the life of his son and a car mechanic husband by giving his kidney to his wife. Leaving private hospitals behind, AIIMS is continuously getting success in saving the lives of patients by transplanting kidneys received from relatives. . Recently, a 44-year-old NGO employee living in Durg underwent kidney transplant. He had kidney problems for many years. There was also hypoparathyroidism and high blood pressure. Due to continuous dialysis, there was accumulation of calcium in some blood vessels. The patient had high creatinine levels and complained of blood in the urine.

Dr. Vinay Rathore, Head of the Department of Nephrology, said that the condition of both the patient, the kidney and the donor was challenging. In such a situation, kidney transplant was done under very difficult circumstances. The kidney was transplanted into the son’s body only after no active cancer cells were found in the father. The wife of a 38-year-old car mechanic from Jagdalpur donated his kidney. The patient was undergoing dialysis for two years. Its operation was done in August. Both the patients and both kidney donors are now completely healthy. Dr. Amit R. in both the transplants. Sharma, Dr. Deepak Biswal, Dr. Satyadev Sharma, Dr. Rohit Badge, Dr. Jitendra. DKS, which was given the status of a superspeciality hospital, was the only place where the possibility of kidney transplantation was explored. The team of doctors present there at that time and the attached operation was considered suitable for it. After this the plan could only exist on paper and even after several years of efforts the department could not procure the necessary equipment for the transplant there. The department remained satisfied with just opening Soto’s office here which allows organ transplants.

more private hospitals

Barring AIIMS, kidney transplants in the state depend only on private hospitals. Here, apart from the package prescribed in Ayushman, the patient and family members also have to bear other expenses during the treatment. About a dozen hospitals have registered themselves for kidney transplant, but the officials are not interested in providing this facility in the government hospital.
