  • Steps taken to end indiscriminate competition among students

Raipur. CBSE will from now on not mention the category of students in the mark list. That means, first, second and third division awarded to students will not be mentioned in the mark list. Along with this, special qualifications, overall percentage and CGPA awarded to the students will also not be displayed in the mark list. The marksheet will only mention how many marks the student has got in which subject. This decision has been taken by the Central Board of Secondary Education so that unnecessary pressure on students can be eliminated and they can study without worry.

This arrangement is being made to implement competition free study system. The percentage obtained by the students in the mark list stopped being mentioned from the last academic session itself. It has been officially closed from the current academic session by issuing a circular. Issuing the circular, CBSE Controller of Examinations Sanyam Bhardwaj said, “No overall category, special ability or total marks will be given. If a candidate has appeared in more than five subjects, the admitting institution or employer may decide to consider the best five subjects for him.”

You will have to calculate the percentage yourself

If a CBSE student applies for studies in an educational institution or for a job in a company, then the percentage awarded to the students will have to be calculated by the educational institutions or the company itself. Under CBSE board examinations, students take examinations in five subjects. Students can also choose an additional subject. While calculating the percentage, CBSE used to select those 5 subjects out of 6 in which the student had got the highest marks. This will not happen now. To calculate the percentage, the educational institution or the employing company will be able to decide as per its requirement or as per the application given by the students, which five subjects are to be selected for calculating the percentage.

No merit list at any level

Merit list has been released by CBSE at the national level. Apart from this, merit list is also released at the state level. Schools have also been announcing students securing first, second and third positions at their class level. After the new circular this will also be completely banned. That means, even at the school level, students securing first, second and third positions will not be announced. All CBSE affiliated schools will have to follow this. If this is not done, the recognition of the schools may be terminated. If a student obtains more than 75 percent marks in any subject, special merit i.e. distinction has been awarded in that subject. Now this is also banned.

no more labels

Principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya A-2, Raipur, Sujit Saxena said that this step has been taken to promote healthy competition. , The new rule will help protect children from inferiority complex. Labels of percentage or special ability create inferiority complex in children.
