Crime News: After murder of tribal woman, she was cut into 31 pieces

Jagdalpur. A couple who murdered a tribal woman and cut her into 31 pieces in Navrangpur district of neighboring state Odisha, bordering Bastar, have been arrested. According to the information, Raighar police has arrested the main suspect Chandra Raut and his wife Siya Raut in the case of murder of a tribal woman and cutting her body into pieces in Murumdihi village of Gona Panchayat of Navrangpur district on Sunday. Police said Chandra, 27, was in a pre-marital relationship with the victim, Tilbati Gond, 21, of Baghbeda village. On Wednesday, Tilbati reached Chandra Raut’s house in Murrumdihi and asked him to marry her. After this, accused Chandra Raut and his wife together murdered him and chopped off various parts of his body. The accused couple also tried to cut the body into pieces to destroy evidence.

To destroy the evidence, the accused buried the pieces of Tilabati’s body in a forest near Murumdihi village. On Saturday, after finding blood stains in the forest, the police took out the body of the woman from the grave. The accused Chandra and Siya were presented in the court in the case.

The relatives of the deceased said that the culprit should be hanged.

After this case, family members of deceased Tilabati and villagers of Bagbera protested at Raighar police station demanding hanging of the accused. The family members and villagers of Baghbeda cremated Tilabati’s body in the courtyard behind Chandra’s house. Police have registered a case against the accused in the murder case and are investigating.
