Pakhanjur residents have called for a bandh on Sunday to demand the removal of the dead body and cancellation of the illegally allotted land for the cemetery. All shops are closed in Pakhanjur on Sundays. For the sake of security, the police force has been deployed at various places and the demonstration of the villagers in front of the police station continues for the second day as well.

Actually, Dilip Pisda (50 years) died in Machapalli village, 12 km from Pakhanjur on Friday. When the relatives wanted to perform the last rites of the deceased, the villagers did not allow the dead body to be buried in the village due to religious conversion. They did not agree even after the request of the relatives. Then the relatives reached Pakhanjur with the dead body and demanded a place from the administration to bury the dead body. Villagers called for bandh

They say that there is no graveyard here. The SDM has allotted a graveyard for Christianity here without the permission of the Nagar Panchayat, which is illegal. After this, they continued to protest in front of the police station till late on Saturday. A bandh was called on Sunday, due to which all the shops are closed. At the same time, the local people are protesting in front of the police station since morning. Police force has also been deployed in view of the tense situation.

Villagers adamant on the demand of taking out the dead body

At the same time, even after the police-administration’s persuasion, the protest continues. People are demanding to take out the dead body and cancel the land illegally reserved for the cemetery. He says that the movement will continue till the demands are met.
