Ambikapur. A video of 15 young laborers from Mainpat, Surguja being held hostage in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh has surfaced. In the viral video, a young man is telling that neither he is being given money nor he is being sent back. His family members are also very upset due to this. When the matter came to light, the district administration also became active. Surguja Collector has said that the workers will be brought back from there within a day or two.

According to the information received, 15 youths from Supalga village of Mainpat were taken to Delhi 5 months ago in the name of working as labourers. From there they were taken to Baghpat in UP and put to work in sugarcane fields at different places. Most of these laborers belong to the specially protected hill Korwa tribe.

Workers are in contact with family members

The hostage workers include 15 youths including Rohit (19), Jasman (22), Sandeep (20) of Supalga village. He is in touch with his family members through mobile. The family members said that they want to come back but those who have employed them are asking them to stay for six-seven more months. The workers are not even being paid their wages, so that they can return.

Action to bring back workers continues

Surguja Collector Kundan Kumar has instructed the officials to take immediate action. Surguja SP Sunil Sharma talked to Baghpat SP and discussed about bringing back the workers safely. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Abhishek Kumar also spoke to the SDM of Baghpat. Collector Kundan Kumar says that after getting information from social media, we have started action. There are preparations to bring back the workers soon.

Workers will return safely in two days

Collector Kundan Kumar said that the administrative officials of Baghpat have contacted those who hired the workers. They have been asked to pay the wages to the workers and send them back. Everyone will be brought back safely. The Collector has assured that the workers can reach Ambikapur in two days.
