In this context, on Sunday, a team of BSF jawans had gone out on a search, during which the hand grenade kept with the jawan suddenly exploded, resulting in his death.
According to the information received, the BSF team was staying at Katekalyan police station for the assembly elections. During this time, the hand grenade kept near Head Constable Balbir Chand of BSF C/70 Charlie Company exploded and he was seriously injured. He was immediately taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. Head constable Balbir Chand was a resident of Himachal Pradesh. He was posted on election duty in Dantewada.
