CBI clamps down on Kothari brothers: CA Shripal, Suresh and Siddharth Kothari arrested, all three taken to Kolkata in share scam worth 53 crores

Durg. The CBI on Friday arrested three Kothari brothers, residents of Durg in Chhattisgarh, from their homes on charges of cheating them of shares worth Rs 53 crore from Prakash Jaiswal, a resident of Kolkata. After this, she took his remand from the court and took her to Kolkata with her. This action has been taken after a case of share scam of more than Rs 80 crore with Mahavir Developers was registered against these three people in Kolkata.

According to information, a 40-member CBI team from West Bengal Kolkata reached Durg at 5.30 am on Friday. Before reaching, the CBI divided the entire force into four different teams. After this, the house and office of CA Shripal Kothari, Suresh Kethari and Siddharth Kothari were raided simultaneously.

Seeing the CBI, the documents were set on fire

Shripal Kothari saw the force in front of his house, locked the door and burnt the documents kept inside. The CBI opened the door with difficulty, but by then a large amount of documents had been burnt. He was interrogated in the house for several hours and the documents were searched, but most of the documents had been burnt.

The crime of cheating is registered in the West Bengal court.

It may be noted that Kothari Brothers of Durg district have a case of cheating in West Bengal Court, in which crime was registered against Suresh Kothari, Siddharth Kothari and CA Shripal Kothari. The matter is of the year 2005. Complainant Prakash Jaiswal had bought 40,000 shares of Rajat Buildcon India Private Limited. The present value of these shares is around 54 crores. Suresh Kothari and his brothers fraudulently took over the shares of Jaiswal.

The High Court had ordered the CBI to investigate

The complaint was lodged by Prakash Jaiswal at the Burtala police station in Kolkata. When the Kolkata Police failed to nab the three accused, the court ordered a CBI inquiry into the matter. After the case was registered, the Kothari brothers had filed an anticipatory bail petition in the Calcutta High Court and the Sessions Court. That too was rejected by the court.

The accused lived openly in the city

It is also reported that the Kolkata Police has come three to four times to arrest the Kothari brothers after their bail was rejected in the cheating case. But she could not arrest him. Whenever the Kolkata Police used to come here, the Durg Police used to send the accused out of the house. Eventually, the Kolkata Police had written in the court that Durg Police was not cooperating. After this, the court had sent the CBI to arrest him.

80 crore fraud case registered in Durg also

Durg’s Rajat Surana has also registered a case of cheating of 80 crores against these three accused. The Durg police registered a case of cheating against all three on 25 January 2023 on the orders of the court. The accused are roaming freely in Durg city. Durg police is not arresting him because of political protection. Rajat Surana says that the Durg police was not even registering the case. When he filed a complaint in the District Court and from there it was ordered to register an FIR, then the Durg Kotwali police registered the case.
