Raipur- CM Bhupesh Baghel expressed his opposition to the amendment of the Biodiversity Act and said that this amendment is against the interests of tribals… In fact, the Biodiversity Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on July 25 and the Rajya Sabha on August 1. This was done because after its amendment, offenses related to biodiversity violation would appear to be phasing out.

Allows business in forest areas…

In the amendment of the Biodiversity Act, private sector companies have to be given exemption of business in all types of forest areas. Along with this, its purpose is also to give relaxation to the corporate sector to loot forest resources. Through this amendment, the provisions of the Forest Conservation Act will also be bypassed through the back door. But on this, CM Bhupesh says that, this amendment will adversely affect the interests of the tribals. Simplifying the entry of the corporate world in the forest areas, there will be a possibility of eviction of the tribals from the forest areas.
