Odisha Cricket Association and Chhattisgarh State Cricket teams have made it to the semi-finals of the 18th Rani Suryamukhi Devi Memorial All India T20 Floodlight Cricket Tournament in Pool A due to better run averages. Chhattisgarh State Cricket defeated District Cricket Association Rajnandgaon by 8 wickets in the league round and VTCA Nagpur defeated Odisha Cricket Association by 10 runs in another thrilling match on Thursday.
Under the joint aegis of Stadium Committee, District Cricket Association, Rajgami Sampada Nyas, P-4 Committee, the Rani Suryamukhi Devi Memorial All India Cricket Tournament being played at Digvijay Stadium was organized under the guidance of former Stadium Committee Chairman and Collector Doman Singh. According to the decision, as a result of conducting the competition on league basis, in the first phase of the competition, league round matches between 4 teams were played from May 29. Odisha and Chhattisgarh State teams from this pool advanced to the semi-finals on the basis of better run average. In the first match played on the third day, Chhattisgarh State defeated District Cricket Association Rajnandgaon by 8 wickets in a one-sided match. Rajnandgaon’s team won the toss and elected to bat first and its opener Nikhil and Gaurav made a partnership of 47 runs. Despite a strong start, the back-order batsmen could not last long and the entire team could only manage 146 runs in 20 overs losing 8 wickets. In this yesterday’s man of the match Deepak Yadav’s important innings of 51 runs off 37 balls and Nikhil contributed 30 runs, Gaurav contributed 20 runs. Odisha’s team made it to the semi-finals
In the second match played, Nagpur’s VTCA defeated Odisha Cricket Association by 11 runs in a thrilling match. But due to low run average, she could not make it to the semi-finals.
