Bihar Politics: Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a public meeting in Patahi in Muzaffarpur district of Bihar on Sunday. Addressing the public meeting, the Home Minister alleged that the grand alliance government of the state increased the population of Yadavs and Muslims in the Bihar caste survey as part of ‘appeasement politics’. Now politics has started on the statement of the Home Minister. Amit Shah’s statement has now been countered by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. He said what basis does the Home Minister have? On what basis are they saying that the figures of any caste were reduced in the census?

Tejashwi said this

Talking to media in Patna on caste based survey, Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav said that he (Amit Shah) is saying that the number of backward and extremely backward people has reduced and the number of Yadavs has increased. Are Yadavs not backward? On what basis are they saying what has been increased or decreased? Tejashwi Yadav said we have scientific data. They must have a basis to support it. On what basis are they saying this? If it had to be increased, then Nitish Kumar is from Kurmi community, so the number of Kurmi community would have been increased.

Sushil Modi justified the Home Minister’s statement

BJP leader Sushil Modi has justified the statement given by Amit Shah on caste based survey in Bihar. Sushil Modi said that the Home Minister has rightly said that the number of Yadavs and Muslims has increased. When caste based census was conducted in 1931, at that time the population of Yadavs in Bihar was 12.7%, now their population has increased to 14.3%. He said that in 1931 the population of Muslims in Bihar was 14.6% which has increased to 17.7%. Therefore, under the pressure of Lalu Yadav, the number of special castes was increased and extremely backwardness is more than the 36% presented by you.
