3 policemen were smuggling liquor in Muzaffarpur, were suspended

Police of Kanti police station of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar have seized a bus laden with liquor near Sadatpur. The bus was going from Delhi to Sitamarhi. During this action, apart from a constable working in Sitamarhi who had come to collect liquor, 5 smugglers have also been arrested. The case of making mockery of the Prohibition law by the policemen itself has come to the fore.

The bus was going from Delhi to Sitamarhi

According to media reports, 172 cartons of foreign liquor have been seized from a bus in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur. However, the driver and other staff of the bus could not be traced. Acting on a tip-off, a bus going from Delhi to Sitamarhi was stopped near Sudha Dairy at Sadatpur turn by the Kanti police. Meanwhile, the smugglers who were running away on seeing the police were chased for about 2 kilometers and caught. Among the arrested smugglers, other accused were also arrested at the instance of Rampravesh Patel of Runnisaidpur in Sitamarhi district. Apart from this, Sikandar Kumar, Prashant Kumar, Ajay Kumar and Animesh Patel have also been arrested. After strict questioning, Animesh Patel told the officers that he is a soldier of Sitamarhi District Police Force. He said that liquor has been doing this business for a long time in collaboration with smugglers. He has spoken before the police about the involvement of other colleagues of his department and two officers of the level of inspector. The names of both the constables are Rampravesh Oraon and Jitendra Kumar Suman. Both are said to be absconding now.

All the accused were sent to judicial custody

Kanti police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar said that after registering an FIR in this case, all the accused have been sent to judicial custody. An offer of Rs 3 lakh was made by the accused to hush up the case. Police Station President Sanjay Kumar said that a total of 1,523 liters of liquor has been seized from the bus. Further investigation is being done on the basis of interrogation of the arrested liquor smugglers.
