Wrestlers on strike demanding action against WFI President Brij Bhushan.

Wrestlers’ protest continues at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Other wrestlers including Olympic medalist wrestler Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik are involved in this protest. All these wrestlers are demanding action against Brijbhushan Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India. He alleges that after the allegations against Brij Bhushan Singh in the month of January, the Union Sports Ministry constituted an inquiry committee. Three months have passed, but the investigation report has not yet been made public.

Invitation given to political parties

According to media reports, wrestlers Bajrang Punia told that we want cooperation from everyone against Brij Bhushan. He has also invited political parties to join the protest. Poonia said that whether it is BJP, Aam Aadmi Party or Congress, all parties can participate in the protest. He again clarified that we do not belong to any party, but we will welcome whoever supports us.

Let us tell you that in January, when the wrestlers were sitting on a dharna for this demand, they had said that this is not a political dharna, so there is no need for any leader to come. Despite this warning from the wrestlers, on January 19, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Brinda Karat also reached Jantar Mantar in support of the wrestlers. She also climbed the stage, but the wrestlers stopped her before she could reach the mic and took her off the stage. Wrestler Bajrang Punia told him not to make this stage a place for politics.

Delhi Police asked for the report of the inquiry committee

The Delhi Police has also entered the matter among the wrestlers protesting against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Singh at Jantar Mantar. The Delhi Police has started an investigation into the allegations against Brijbhushan Singh. Along with this, the inquiry committee headed by Mary Kom was formed in the month of January, its report has also been sought by the Delhi Police from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. According to media reports, the action will be taken forward only after receiving the report of the inquiry committee.

These allegations were made in the press conference

Wrestler Bajrang Punia on last Sunday evening (Bajrang Punia)Had said in a press conference that all the wrestlers are being subjected to mental harassment. It is a matter of respect for women wrestlers. We have not even been given any assurance from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Also, Bajrang Punia said that we had lodged a complaint against Brij Bhushan, but the police did not register the case. Poonia said that almost three months have passed, proper action should be taken on this matter.
