The hearing of the case was started by Special Judge Suresh Shah. During this, about 187 witnesses were examined. Also, six judges have changed so far in this case which lasted for 13 years. Now the verdict has come on 68 accused in Naroda Gam case.

In September 2017, BJP leader and currently Union Home Minister Amit Shah appeared as a defense witness for Maya Kodnani. Kodnani had requested the court to summon Amit Shah to prove that she was present in the Gujarat Assembly at that time and later at the Sola Civil Hospital. Kodnani said that she did not go to Naroda Gam.
