Vanindu Hasaranga announces retirement from Test, Hasaranga will be seen only in white-ball

Cricket News: Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has announced his retirement from Test cricket at the age of 26. If media reports are to be believed, he has taken this decision to be more available for the franchise cricket tournament. Please tell that Hasaranga has not been a regular member of the Sri Lanka Test team for the last two years.

He has played only four Tests for Sri Lanka so far. During this he took four wickets at an average of 100.75, during which Hasaranga also scored a half-century with the bat. Hasaranga was recently included in some of the wider training groups ahead of the Test series, and was then not selected for the Test team either. However, according to a Sri Lanka Cricket release, Hasaranga has retired from Tests to prolong his career as a limited-overs specialist.

Hasaranga has played a total of 44 first-class matches in his career. In this he has taken 102 wickets. He also has three first-class centuries and 19 half-centuries to his credit. Whereas Hasaranga has so far represented Sri Lanka in 48 ODIs and 58 T20s. Currently Hasaranga is a key member for limited overs Sri Lanka. Along with this, Hasaranga currently captains his Sri Lanka Premier League team B-Love Candy. Hasaranga is a key player in the Sri Lankan squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup. Ashley de Silva, CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket, said: “We will accept his decision and we are confident that Hasaranga will be an important part of our white-ball programme.”
