Saha’s name was proposed for the post of Chief Minister by Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik, as earlier Bhowmik’s name was also coming up prominently in the Chief Minister’s race. At the same time, Manik Saha will have a second consecutive term as CM in Tripura.

In Tripura, the Bharatiya Janata Party has won an absolute majority in the assembly elections. In Tripura, the BJP has won 32 seats in the 60-member assembly. Even before this there was a BJP government in Tripura. After the election results of this time, once again the BJP has won Tripura.

Let us tell you that the voting for the assembly elections in Tripura was held on February 16 and the results came out on Thursday i.e. March 2. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha submitted his resignation to the governor after the election results were out. Once again the churning started regarding the name of the Chief Minister, in which the names of Union Ministers Pratima Bhowmik and Manik Saha figured prominently.

The party’s national president JP Nadda, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior leaders met at the residence of Union Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Sunday regarding the name of the Chief Minister of Tripura. After this meeting, Saha’s name was sealed. However, during this time the name of Pratima Bhowmik was also considered.

Manik Saha is a Doctor by profession, he is Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. Saha completed his graduation from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow. Saha is also a member of the Dental Council of India. Manik Saha had also operated a 10-year-old child during his previous tenure as CM. Along with this, Saha has also been a badminton player. He has also worked for Tripura Cricket Association.

In 2016, Saha broke ties with the Congress and joined the BJP. He was made Tripura BJP State President from 2020 to 2022. He had registered his first victory as a politician in the Bardoli assembly. Saha was made the CM in Tripura in May 2022, replacing former CM Biplab Deb.
