ODI World Cup: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto to decide on the participation of the Pakistan Cricket Team in the 2023 ODI World Cup in India. The committee will discuss all aspects of Pakistan-India relations before submitting its recommendations to Sharif. It will explore and discuss the Government of India’s policy of separation of sports and the situation in India for players, cricket fans and officials coming to India for the World Cup.
ICC trusts Pakistan
The International Cricket Council has already announced the World Cup schedule. After the announcement of the schedule, the ICC had issued a statement saying that we are confident that the Pakistan team will go to India for the World Cup match. After this, the PCB issued a statement saying that we are ready to go to India, but the final decision regarding this will be of the Government of Pakistan. Other members of the committee include Sports Minister Ahsan Mazari, Maryam Aurangzeb, Asad Mahmood, Amin-ul-Haq, Qamar Zaman Kaira and former diplomat Tariq Fatmi. The relevant ministers had already indicated to the PCB that a security delegation would be sent to visit the venues where Pakistan’s matches are scheduled. The high voltage match between India and Pakistan in the World Cup will be held on October 15 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Pakistan will play their two warm-up matches in Hyderabad before taking on Netherlands and Sri Lanka in their opening two World Cups.
