KP Viswanathan Passes Away: Senior Congress leader and former Kerala minister KP Vishwanathan has passed away. He was suffering from the illness for some time and breathed his last on Friday morning at a private hospital in Thrissur, Kerala. He was currently 83 years old. After knowing about this, many political leaders have expressed grief over the demise of Vishwanathan.

Political career of KP Vishwanathan

In 1977, KP Vishwanathan contested the assembly elections from Kunnamkulam for the first time. He won the election and retained the seat in 80. In 1987, 1991, 1996 and 2001, he was elected to the assembly from Kodakara constituency. After resigning from the post of minister, he again contested the assembly elections from Kodakara in 2006 but was not successful in winning. In 2011 also he lost the contest to C. Ravindranath of CPM. Since then he has stayed away from active politics. Vishwanathan is also a lawyer.

KP Vishwanathan was born on April 22, 1940 in Kalla, Kunnamkulam in Thrissur district. After his primary education, he completed his graduation from Kerala Varma College, Thrissur. While practicing as a lawyer, he entered politics as a Youth Congress worker. He became Thrissur District President of the organization from 1967 to 1970.
