Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure through video conferencing. Representatives of 40 countries took part in the conference. During this, PM Modi has given great advice to avoid the calamities coming all over the world. He has said that the world is closely connected and if any disaster occurs anywhere, its effect will not only be seen at the local level but it can affect other areas as well. He said that our response to disasters should not be isolated but one.
We should learn from past disasters
According to media reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there were heat waves across India and Europe and many island countries were badly damaged by the earthquake. Referring to the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, PM Modi said that due to the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, there was a lot of loss of life and property. The world is looking at ICDRI with great expectations. He said that many governments are working in this direction. It is also encouraging that apart from governments, global institutions, many NGOs and the private sector are also working together to address this challenge and indirectly playing a vital role in disaster relief.
Emphasis on digital infrastructure
Prime Minister Narendra Modi exhorting the countries of the world that we should study past disasters and learn lessons from them, CDRI will play an important role in this. Social and digital infrastructure is as important as transport infrastructure has become. He said that governments need to work at the local level as well to make people vulnerable to disasters.
Highlighting the importance of CDRI, PM Modi said that in just four years, more than 40 countries have become part of CDRI. This conference has become very important as work is being done on this platform globally. He said that it is commendable that countries with advanced and developing economies as well as small and big countries are all coming together on this platform.
ICDRI is an organization of countries with one ideology
ICDRI is one such group which has been formed for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure. Such countries are included in this organization, which have a kind of ideology. The ideology of this group is to ensure infrastructure during disaster and to keep lives as well as physical infrastructure safe.
