Parliament Winter Session 2023 Live Updates: Today is the eighth day of the winter session of Parliament. The proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will start from 11 am. Wednesday i.e. 13th December is the anniversary of the dastardly terrorist attack on Parliament. On the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi and other leaders observed a minute of silence in Parliament to pay tribute to those killed during the 2001 Parliament attack. At around 11.40 am on December 13, 2001, five terrorists entered the Parliament House complex and started firing, killing nine security personnel. The Opposition in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday criticized the government’s bill to regulate the Election Commission’s appointment process, saying it will give the executive the power to choose chief election commissioners and election commissioners who will favor the ruling party. The Bill provides for setting up a committee comprising the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Cabinet Minister nominated by the Prime Minister to select the members of the Election Commission. Terrorists from Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed organizations attacked the Parliament complex on December 13, 2001, killing nine people. Security forces killed all five terrorists.
