News2News.in Explainer: The Congress has given a major credit for its victory in the Karnataka assembly elections to the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ and said that the padyatra taken out by Rahul Gandhi has proved to be a ‘clear winner’. The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ passed through 20 assembly constituencies of Karnataka. Of them, the Congress won 15, while the Janata Dal (Secular) won three and the Bharatiya Janata Party two.
All the leaders of the Congress party are thanking the people of Karnataka. There is also a lot of talk about former party president Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ yatra. The Congress, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, had taken out ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu on September 7 last year. The yatra entered Karnataka from Chamarajanagar district on September 30 and stayed in the state for about 22 days. The padyatra of about 4,000 kilometers was concluded in Srinagar on January 30 this year. Bharat Jodo Yatra reached Karnataka on 30 September 2002. After this, Rahul’s padyatra in the state continued for 21 days. During this, Congress leaders and workers visited different areas, villages of the state and met people. The then Interim President of Congress Sonia Gandhi also participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka. Sonia Gandhi participated in Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka on 6 October. Whereas, Priyanka Gandhi joined the Yatra on October 7. During this, some emotional moments were also seen.
Is Karnataka victory the result of Bharat Jodo Yatra?
The biggest advantage of Bharat Jodo Yatra was that it worked to connect the common people. Somewhere the yatra worked to influence the voters more than other parties, which also became the reason for the victory of the Congress. Here Congress won 135 out of 224 assembly seats, while BJP won only 66 seats. The Bharat Jode Yatra of Congress passed through 20 Vidhan Sabhas of Karnataka. Out of which Congress won 15 seats, while Janata Dal (Secular) won 3 and Bharatiya Janata Party won 2 seats.
Will Congress do Bharat Jodo 2.0 Yatra before 2024 elections?
Congress is looking very upbeat after the Karnataka assembly victory. Meanwhile, a statement of Congress Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal regarding Telangana and Kerala has come to the fore, in which it has been said that Congress is planning another national campaign before next year’s national elections. Due to this, it is being speculated whether the Congress is preparing for Bharat Jodo Yatra 2.0 before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. If reports are to be believed then Bharat Jodo Yatra 2.0 will start from Porbandar or Sabarmati Ashram.
