Meghalaya-Nagaland Election 2023: Voting is underway for the assembly elections in Nagaland and Meghalaya. On February 27 morning, polling is being held on 60 seats in Meghalaya while 59 seats in Nagaland. People have been casting their votes since morning. Adequate security arrangements have been made for this. People are not being allowed to wander at any booth. The results of the elections in both the states will come on March 2. The people of the state and all the parties will be waiting for only one thing that whose power will be established this time.

- Meghalaya recorded 64 per cent polling till 3 pm.

Nagaland has 60 seats, but the Congress candidate had withdrawn from one assembly seat. Due to this, voting is being done on only 59 seats here. There is a BJP coalition government in both the states. In Meghalaya, the BJP formed a government in alliance with the National People’s Party. However, this time both the parties are contesting the elections separately. On the other hand, in Nagaland, the BJP formed a coalition government with the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party. Here both the parties are fighting the elections together.

Voting is underway in Nagaland from 7 am amid tight security arrangements. Here polling is being held on 59 out of 60 assembly seats in 16 districts. On February 10, the Congress candidate from Akuluto constituency, Khekashe Sumi, had withdrawn his name. Due to this BJP candidate Kajeto Kinimi was elected unopposed. Chief Electoral Officer V Shashank Shekhar said that there are a total of 13 lakh voters in the state. A total of 2315 polling stations have been set up for voting on 59 seats. For this, 183 candidates are in the fray, including 4 women and 19 independent candidates.

Voting is underway for 60 assembly seats in a total of 12 districts of Meghalaya. For this, 3419 polling stations have been set up. Here NPP is contesting on 57 seats. Whereas Congress and BJP are contesting on 60-60 seats. Apart from this, TMC 56 candidates have also entered the fray. There are a total of 30 lakh voters in Meghalaya. There are 375 candidates in the fray, including 339 men and 36 women.
